Most people fail to lose weight because they refuse to make the lifestyle changes necessary in order to cause that fat to burn away. Most people know what it takes to lose weight. They do. They may say they don't, that they don't know how to exercise, or that they don't know what to eat. But that's not likely the case. They know that walking or running is good exercise. They know they can do sit ups in their living rooms and they know what foods are bad to eat because it's likely they're eating them. They know the difference between a diet loaded with fruits and vegetables and one loaded with French fries and hamburgers. And the alcohol. Does it slow metabolism?. Not many people are able to stop their drinking while trying to lose weight and they'll often ask if alcohol slows down metabolism? The answer is yes.
Moderation
You can lose weight while continuing to drink alcohol, as long as you drink in moderation. That means more like once or twice a week. But you should know that alcohol slows your metabolism. Think of your motor skills and your vocal skills when you've had one too many. You're slow like a robot. That's how your metabolism acts when you feed it alcohol. First of all, your body is going to burn off the alcohol for energy before it burns off any fat. That means the more you drink, the less fat you're going to burn and the longer it's going to take you to reach your goal.
I Can't Stop
Some people lead hectic, stressful lives and they feel like a glass of wine every now and then relaxes them. People have all sorts of vices and drinking alcohol is definitely not the worse one you could have. Alcohol may slow your metabolism down but doctors have said the occasional glass of wine may be good for you. The truth is though, you know alcohol slows down your metabolism. It doesn't take rocket science to figure that out. You wouldn't ask if coffee slowed your metabolism, would you? Of course not. Coffee speeds it up, just like it speeds you up first thing in the morning. Just make it the occasional thing and focus more on losing the weight instead. You may find that once you lose the weight, you no longer want the alcohol. It's amazing how losing weight can relax you, lower your blood pressure and give you a new lease on life.
